Who’s New: Sherri Lester (and Brady)

By: Sherri Lester

How did I find Albemarle Plantation? It was a “God thing,” honestly! While discussing my home search with two different unassociated people, one of my son’s neighbors and a dear friend on the phone, I was advised to expand my home search out toward Edenton. I didn’t know where Edenton was, but when you hear it twice within a one-hour period of time, you listen. That evening when I expanded my search perimeters on-line, there was my home! When I drove around on my first trip here, I knew this was where I wanted to live.

One of the reasons I chose AP as my new community was that I wanted a secure neighborhood with lots of amenities and located no more than an hour away from my son’s home in Suffolk. It was important for me to be in an area where I could feel safe and socialize with really nice people. I have found everything I was looking for here since moving into my new neighborhood of Woodfield last June.

I had a very successful real estate business in Winston Salem for many years, once recognized as #3 in the entire state. I later relocated my business to Richmond, holding a broker’s license in both states. Unfortunately, a car accident a few years ago prompted me to retire early and focus on healing. I’m so glad I did because now I’m an early retiree who is able to enjoy my life to the fullest. I absolutely love retirement!

I am an empty nester. My daughter lives in Winston Salem and my son is in Suffolk. They are settled in those areas as both of them became homeowners a couple of years ago in their respective locations. The “man of the house” is my precious Shih-Tzu/Bichon Frise (Teddy Bear dog) “Brady,” as in Tom Brady, because this little guy is a G.O.A.T. as well.

I enjoy spending time on golf, home décor, home improvement projects, and home organization tasks—I might enjoy that one a little TOO much! Brady and I also enjoy joyriding in our golf cart to the marina or the dog park on nice days. I have already joined the ladies golf group and Sports Club. I’m sure that list will grow as I enjoy my first full year here. I also enjoy a daily devotional practice comprised of writing in a “Gratitude Journal” every morning. If you haven’t done that, try it. You’ll find yourself being even more aware of your blessings. My other interests include home staging and gratitude/positive psychology workshops, and I hold certifications from both.
