We found Albemarle Plantation purely by mistake. In March of 2022 we began our search for our future retirement home, mainly in the Outer Banks, on the Sound side of Hatteras Island. On our drive to look at homes, I just happened to stumble on 114 Middleton Drive. After viewing seven homes in the surrounding area, we found our forever home in Albemarle Plantation.
Albemarle Plantation honestly felt like home when we turned into the property. It has all we could have asked for. The Plantation has the amenities, location, and lifestyle we are looking for as we begin to transition to retirement.
George and I are both originally from West Virginia, relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina, over 30 years ago. While I do miss the shopping, restaurants, and some of the “conveniences” of a larger city, we do NOT miss the traffic.
I work full-time as a Project Manager for the utility services division of Hubbell Power Systems, managing revenue metering and supporting software to investor-owned utilities. George is finishing out his 20+ years of service with the state of North Carolina.
We have a 20-year-old son, Mason, who is in his second year of college, at-tending East Carolina University, working on his eventual degree in Residential Construction Management.
George and I both love going to the beach and fishing. We are also sports fanatics. We love football, basket-ball, and baseball, and you’ll find us most evenings, when the weather is cooperating, on our back patio watching sports on TV.
Once we are able to slow down work-wise, we do hope to become more involved in activities, volunteering, and getting to know our neighbors outside of Middleton. We also have two 5-year-old fur babies, Hershey and Harley, who are a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Labrador mix. These two are well known for barking at their Middleton neighbors and the UPS truck.
