As we go through life, we are considered lucky to have had a handful of people we would label “my best friend.” Some folks are fortunate enough to have a life-long best friend. Kay Henry is one of those lucky ones. It’s that friendship that brought her here to Albemarle Plantation.

Kay was raised in northern California and met Carol in the third grade. They became instantly inseparable. As time went on, they grew up, had families and careers but moved away from each other. Though geographically apart, they remained the very best of friends. Eventually, Carol settled in northeastern North Carolina.

Now I don’t know, but I’ve been told, life-long friends have some sort of telepathy, and I’d bet Kay felt Carol’s excitement even before the phone rang. Carol, being the good friend she is, just had to call and tell Kay about the wonderful new community she and her husband, Joe Goodbody, had discovered – Albemarle Plantation.

For the past 25 years Kay resided in Daytona Beach, Florida. Feeling Carol’s excitement about AP, Kay had to visit her friend and check it out for herself.
On the water, check, friendly people, check, activities, check. The boxes kept getting checked, and the timing was perfect. A superb house located in Randolph’s Village had just hit the market and it was ideal. Kay moved into her new home in March 2023.

A congressional staffer earlier in life, Kay is now retired. Though not a boater, she loves being on the water. She has also discovered the dog park, where she loves to be social, and play with the dogs as well. Kay has three children and eight grandchildren. They are spread around the country in: Pennsylvania, Idaho and the Lake Tahoe area of California.

As she settles in and fully unpacks, I’m confident Kay will find many activities to enjoy and further grow to love the incredible natural beauty of her new community. Let’s all congratulate Kay for geographically reuniting with her best friend. When you see her, don’t forget to wave.
