Greg’s father was retired in Snug Harbor from 1980 to 2000, and we first discovered Albemarle Plantation and the golf course in the late 90s. Once we retired in 2019 , we came back to AP to check it out and really liked it. We found a house, sold our previous home, and in just 30 days moved into our new home in the Waverly section where we love the pine trees, and the neighbors are great.

We chose Albemarle Plantation for our new community because we wanted to be closer to the coast, a little further south for warmer weather, and definitely away from I-95 (arguably with the worst traffic in the U.S). Throw in all the possible activities of golf, fishing, kayaking, biking, hiking, etc. It was a no brainer!

Prior to this we lived in Spotsylvania County, Fredericksburg, Virginia, which is on I-95 between Richmond and D.C. We lived there for 26 years. Greg and I have been married for 34 years and have a daughter who lives in Spotsylvania where she teaches Head Start for Spotsylvania County Schools.
Greg retired from VDOT after 20 years as a bridge safety inspector and 20 years in bridge construction. I retired after teaching special education for 38 years. I taught early childhood special education for a majority of those years and worked with the deaf as well.

Greg enjoys golf, fishing, and working around the yard. I am trying to crochet, and enjoy reading and music.

We both enjoy kayaking and playing cards, and we hope to continue to kayak in the area. We also enjoy riding bikes on the flat land here. We have recently started RVing and hope to travel around the States. I have taken up golf since COVID-19 hit. I’m not good at it but am having fun being outside and trying to improve. I have tried bocce and a sit-and-stitch group, too. We are also hoping to do some activities with the Sports Club.
