WHO’S NEW: Dawn & Tim Prime

Dawn and Tim Prime’s new home in the Woodside neighborhood is freshly painted, wallpapered, and welcoming. It was a surprise to learn they have only been at Albemarle Plantation one week per month since moving here five months ago. Dawn and Tim admit to loving the challenge of a fixer upper and agree they found their “little hidden gem” nestled in a cluster of trees along Pee Dee Drive.

Pee Dee Drive is a second address for Tim and Dawn. Centerville in Northern Virginia has been home base for the Primes for many years. Tim, retired after working for Freddie Mac for 32 years, now coaches a high school baseball team, while Dawn continues to work in bookkeeping part time, but a powerful attraction keeping them close to that part of Virginia is their four children and six granddaughters.

In 2019, however, Tim and Dawn learned about several interesting communities while attending a Live South home show in McLean, Virginia. Albemarle Plantation was the first destination they visited, and Tim was “pretty much sold” on the community after their first visit. As they played golf, deer ran across the fairway; everyone at the pool was friendly and helpful; the weather was just right for relaxing on the Clubhouse terrace, and a bald eagle flew overhead while they were eating. AP was perfect!

The housing market, however, was slow at that time, and the Primes decided to purchase a condo. But this March, they sold their condo and purchased a home on Pee Dee. After being here just six months, they are convinced that in this short time they have met more people and made more friends than they did in the last thirty years.

Tim enjoys golf and fishing. Both like tennis and bike riding, and they own a power boat they keep in our marina. They have enjoyed exploring the waters of the Yeopim Creek and hope to get involved in some local kayaking. Dawn is also looking forward to learning how to play bocce.

Although they have no definite retirement plans, Tim and Dawn expect that the time they spend here will slowly evolve. And they are anxious to begin to spend a few more days here each month.

When you meet Tim and Dawn, be sure to ask them about their dog Marley, their faithful traveling companion. And be sure to welcome them “home.”
