By: Kevin Jones with Kathy Fatscher

Bob and Kathy relocated to Albemarle Plantation from Pennsylvania in April 2021. Having sold their horse farm in Pennsylvania, they were looking for a change of lifestyle, but didn’t want to be too far from family and friends still living there. They saw an ad for Albemarle Plantation and decided to check it out.

The beauty and serenity of Albemarle Plantation, along with the dramatic lighting while approaching the main gate at night, hooked them. Like so many others, they fell in love on their first visit and decided this community would be their home. Bob and Kathy bought a home in the Evergreen neighborhood as it reminded them of a previous house they had owned and loved in South Carolina. Situated on the golf course, they had to have it.

Prior to their retirement, Kathy worked for Sunoco in refining and marketing. She has the distinction of being the first woman to work in the refinery in Philadelphia. Being a pioneer is her claim to fame in the oil industry. Bob owned his own design/build company for 45 years and coached football and wrestling. They share three children and eight grandchildren. Since coming to Albemarle Plantation, Bob and Kathy have been active in joining the Sports Club, Golf Club and the Yacht Club. Their interests include golf, fishing, swimming, bike riding, and a good hike. They recently bought a boat that they keep moored at the marina. Be sure to say “hello” if you see them…because we all know the old phase, “It’s good to have friends that have a boat!”
