Summer Fun (Even with Social Distancing)

Summer in the Inner Banks is almost here and, unfortunately, the global pandemic we’ve been faced with is still here too. While most of the country, and the world for that matter, are reopening, fears of a resurgence still linger, and we are faced with the unknown. Around the nation, everything from festivals to summer camps have been cancelled, vacation plans have changed, and we’re all wondering if summer will even feel like summer at all.

Fortunately, summer fun hasn’t been cancelled and luckily for us, life on the water is all the fun you need! Here are some ways to keep your family and loved ones safe, and still have fun during this unusual social distancing summer.

Now is the perfect time to embrace the outdoors. Spending time on the water is a great way to socialize while maintaining social distance and the Albemarle Sound is the perfect place to do it – especially with the Albemarle Plantation Marina in your neighborhood. Take a family boat trip or throw out some lines and do some fishing or crabbing with friends at a safe distance. Get your exercise and entertainment all in one with a kayak ride or a long swim or water skiing. Jump in a canoe or paddle board for a relaxing paddle, the possibilities are endless at Albemarle Plantation!

Have you been eating as many quarantine snacks as the rest of us? If so, you are probably feeling like an exercise regimen may be in order! Gyms may be closed but that doesn’t mean we can’t get out and take advantage of the amazing warm weather! And we are fortunate to have some of the best walking and biking trails around! We can leave the house now but we don’t have to go far! The raised boardwalks around the Marina provide such amazing views that you won’t even feel like you’re exercising!

With such amazing scenery everywhere you look in Albemarle Plantation, even a stroll around the community can feel like a mini vacation. There is nothing like grabbing a blanket or stretching out in a hammock with a good book, or even just meeting a friend for a 6-feet-apart, pandemic-approved hangout in your own backyard when you live in paradise!
