Saturday, May 12, was the first Boating Saturday of this year’s boating season with a boat parade in the Yeopim Creek led by Commodore Steve Harris at the helm of his boat Moor Fun.

He was joined by nine other boats, all decorated especially for the occasion and armed with water pistols and water cannons to keep everyone cool on the hot day. Bob Halter and his crew served as both the judging boat and the turning point for the boats’ several circuits of the Yeopim Creek just west of the Marina.

After the parade, the skippers and their crews met in Marina Park for some refreshments and the awarding of the parade prizes by Judge Bob Halter. Arlene and Terry Tesmer won first prize with their pink flamingo boat décor, while Commodore Harris took the award for the best flagship. Vice-Commodore Prewitt was awarded the most patriotic vessel, and Kim Mascolo and crew were awarded a buoy for the day’s honorable mention award.  It is always such fun with the Osprey Yacht Club.
