“A Fallen leaf is nothing more than summer’s wave goodbye” –Unknown

There is no need to be sad as we say our goodbyes to summer!  Autumn is here and full of exciting activities in our area.  Grab your pumpkin spice latte and prepare for all the fun Fall festivities near you!

What better way to kick off the season than by painting a pumpkin?  Well, painting a pumpkin and giving back to the community!  Join Historic Edenton State Historic Site for face painting, lawn games and pumpkin painting on Saturday October 20th for 10am -12pm.  Pumpkins are $5 and include a free face painting as well….but there is no charge for the fun and proceeds go to fund more community events!!

As if there wasn’t enough to celebrate; Chowan County is turning 350 years old and wants you to join in on the spooky celebration!  Hauntings of Historic Edenton will consist of new venues and spooky stories on the guided tours through historic Edenton. Tours are $10 and begin every half hour starting at 6:15 pm at the Historic Edenton Visitor Center.

Mark your calendars because for one night only, the 3rd annual Fear Fest is back at the Crawfish Shack in Edenton.  There will be food, beverages, dancing and tons of spooky fun.  Come prepared for a hauntingly good time.  All proceeds will be donated to hurricane relief efforts.

Edenton isn’t the only city near us hosting a ghost walk either!  Nearby Elizabeth City is in the midst of it’s 22nd annual ghost walk tour as well.  You can enjoy historic home tours, local ghost stories and up close and personal live theater nightly in downtown Elizabeth City for just $15 a ticket.

If you haven’t gotten enough walking in after all that, hike on over to Pettigrew State Park for some seriously scary haunted hiking!  The event is family friendly and ends with s’mores and fresh apple cider!

Bonfires, corn mazes and hayrides; oh my!  Head out to Bagley Swamp Wesleyn Church for all that and more!  A free event for the whole family to enjoy.  Face painting, photo booths, hayrides, horses and so much more!  There is no better way to celebrate Fall than that!
