CLUB CORNER Aviation Club

This month we’re featuring a new club here at AP that is just getting off the ground—the Aviation Club.

It seems the Aviation Club got its beginnings from several AP veterans sitting around and talking about their personal aviation experiences. It was determined that others may have an interest in sharing stories and learning from one another. Thus, a new club was born. Hmm . . . no, that’s wrong. Thus, a new club was wheeled out of the hangar.

For their inaugural gathering, Bernie Poppert shared information with the group regarding his work restoring the Enola Gay. In January, Bron Prokuski shared his experiences working at the Air Force Armament Laboratory at Eglin AFB, where different types of conventional weapons for tactical aircraft are developed.

This club has great potential; and plans are in the works to share not only past experiences with each other, but also to organize trips to museums, air shows, and other events. I’m told there may even be possible flying opportunities.

One other aspect the club members are considering branching out into is space travel. Are there any astronauts in our midst that would like to share a story or two or three?

If anyone has an interest in joining, has any questions, or would like additional information, please contact Bob Eichenlaub at The Club plans to meet quarterly, so watch on NABR for details about upcoming meetings.
