AP Readers

Apr 2, 2024 | Life at Albemarle Plantation, Resident Clubs

by Mary Petersen

Do we have readers here at AP? We most certainly do! On Wednesday, February 21, fifty-six members of seven book clubs (six from AP and one from the Perquimans Library), gathered at the Clubhouse for lunch and the opportunity to share their favorite books read in 2023. Together, members of these seven book clubs read an impressive total of 60 different books. The clubs shared their favorite titles:

All Booked Up: West with Giraffes, historical fiction by Lynda Rutledge

Bookish Belles: The Rent Collector, a novel by Camron Wright

Ladies of the Evening: Lessons in Chemistry, a novel by Bonnie Garmus

Page Turners: Remarkably Bright Creatures, a novel by Shelby Van Pelt

Safe Harbor: In Order to Live, a memoir by Yeonmi Park

Sangria Sisters: The Only Women in the Room, historical fiction by Marie Benedict

So Many Books, So Little Time: A Town Like Alice, a classic by Nevil Shute

This month you will find a new group in NABR – the Book Clubs. The group will be a place where readers can go find different book clubs and find out whether they are open to new members, what they read last year, and what they are currently reading. It’s also where readers can express their desire to be in, or start, a new book club. Most book clubs here at AP limit the number of members they have due to space constraints, so there is a need to es-tablish more clubs. If you are interested in starting a book club, I would encourage you to do so. Happy Reading, and make sure to visit and join the Book Clubs Group.
