Sometimes what we seek is right in front of us, and we need a little nudge to see it. When Phil and Georgia London started planning for retirement, they wanted to make extra double dog sure they found the right place. They searched and searched, eventually en-countering Albemarle Plantation about five years ago. The Londons ended up making five visits to AP in a five-year span.

On their last visit, they met AP residents Tom and Mary Sheys, and the couples struck up a conversation. Upon hearing about the five visits and the fact that they loved the location and everyone they had met through the years, Tom very bluntly expressed his confusion as to why Phil and Georgia were still considering anywhere else. Their eyes were suddenly opened. That day the Londons looked at a waterfront home in the Perry’s Cove neighborhood and concluded they found the right place.

Phil and Georgia met in college at the University of Maryland. They have been married for 46 years and have three sons and four grandchildren. Due to Phil’s career, he and Georgia have traveled our nation extensively. Phil is a computer software technical executive who has built and launched thirteen software companies. Upon retirement it didn’t take long for him to realize he wasn’t very good at being retired. He decided to go back to work part time as a consultant advising other pre-public software start-ups.

Georgia is a retired licensed therapist. She also start-ed her own company, Body-Brain-Balance, that helps her clients improve their lives by treating various physical, neurological, and cognitive conditions.

Since January 2022, when the Londons moved into their forever home here at AP, Phil and Georgia have both joined the golf club and have shown an interest in pickleball. Georgia enjoys book clubs, Mahjongg, and the AP Women’s Club. The two love to go camping and backpacking and hope to purchase a fishing boat soon.

Whether you met them on one of their previous five visits or you are seeing them for the first time, be sure to welcome them home.
