“Pull up a chair. Take a taste. Come join us. Life is so endlessly delicious.”
― Ruth Reichl

Life is good and there is so much to experience and enjoy around Albermarle Plantation this time of year!   The weather is beautiful and everyone should take advantage of opportunity to get outside and dive in to everything the Inner Banks has to offer.

For starters, what better way is there to take in the delicious flavors of the season than to visit the Edenton Farmers Market?  Your senses will be tantalized with the selections of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, flowers and goods for sale.  Stock up and make memories  every Saturday during the growing season.  And on Saturday July 28th, follow that up with a live concert featuring the Original Rhondels at the American Legion Post 40!  What could be better?

If sports are more your speed, don’t miss the Edenton Steamers as they wind up their baseball season mid August with playoffs.  It is good family friendly summer fun for all!  And if the football fan in you can’t wait for the next season to begin, you can get a head start by celebrating the John A. Holmes football team at “Friday Night Before the Lights” for a pep rally before their first game.

All that sports enthusiasm may leave you hungry and the Inner Banks is the perfect place to satisfy that craving for fresh seafood!  This year’s 17th Annual Shrimp By the Bay will be serving up shrimp, fish and plenty of tempting sides; not to mention live entertainment!

Before school starts back and everyone’s schedule fills up, be sure to take a breather and savor the time you have with your family.  Perhaps a family campout on the historic Chowan County Courthouse Green would be ideal.  This will be the first annual Slumber by the Sound family campout and the start of  a wonderful memory making tradition!  What a great way to experience community and nature all at the same time.

As if the kids won’t have enough fun camping, the town of Hertford will be celebrating Hertford Play Day in the Hertford Town Centere on August 1st.  There will be activities, crafts, shows and entertainment for the whole family!   Never a dull moment in Albemarle Plantation!
