Landquest needs your ideas!
Several residents have asked us to develop programs and activities that will entice grandchildren (of all ages) to come visit. Summer’s almost over so there won’t be much we can accomplish before your grandchildren go back to school, but we can look forward to this fall and beyond.
We’d like to start with existing events and look more broadly at new ideas to create a diversity of seasonal programs that will entice your families to visit more often and will heighten their enjoyment during their visit. We’ll try to coordinate the availability of these programs with school vacations so it is easier for your families to travel here for a short visit.
To accomplish this ambitious objective, we’ve designated Sharon Korkes of Landquest to be our new Director of Fun. In the coming weeks, Sharon will be investigating the creation of some or all of the following:
- Fishing, crabbing at the marina
- Movie nights
- Art classes
- Live music
- Outdoor sports
- Game room
- Indoor exercise
- Boating
- Computer access
If you already participate in the running of any of the following programs please get in touch with Sharon at your earliest convenience:
- Fall festival
- Thanksgiving celebration
- Christmas programs
- Summer activities
- Spring break
- Other religious holidays
- Kids programs of any kind (within or outside of the Plantation)
If you are interested in sharing your talents with our young friends, please let Sharon know this as well. For example, if you have experience in any of the following endeavors (or others we couldn’t think of) we’d like to know how we can utilize your skills:
- Musical performance or instruction
- Art instruction
- Nature/environmental science
- Sports training or instruction
- History
- Crafts
- Story telling
- Fishing
- Sailing
- Model building
- Fashion
- Cooking
If you have ideas for new programs or activities we could create please forward your thoughts to Sharon as well. You can reach her at: skorkes@landquestdevelopment.com.
Thanks for all your excitement and feedback.

Sharon, for years about 50 of us have gone to Holiday Island once a week for line dancing/exercise because we have no facility here big enough to accommodate all of us. Would love to see a multipurpose area in the wellness center for this purpose (would need to have a wood floor). In the past we have also had ballroom dancing which would have used this space as well. We also have yoga (Harriett does this upstairs at the clubhouse). Hope this is something you can consider as a use for the Wellness Center.

Ditto to Cheryl’s comments. In addition,
I’ve seen 30” x 60” tables by “Lifetime,” which would be good for crafts and sewing projects because you can adjust height of the table. What are the dimensions of the largest wide open multipurpose area you can give us at the “Wellness Center”?

Cheryl and Pat, you both have good ideas for uses for the Wellness Center. Those are some of the ideas we have in mind for the space, as well as perhaps art and photography classes and shows. We are finalizing a Wellness Center survey to gather resident input. Look for it in the next week or so. Thanks for your input. Keep it coming!
